Tamil Nadu Rural Transformation Project (TNRTP) is an innovative World Bank assisted Project that aims at rural transformation through strategies that look beyond poverty alleviation by building sustainability and prosperity of rural communities through rural enterprise promotion, access to finance and employment opportunities in the selected blocks of Tamil Nadu.
The Project will build on existing institutional capital and investments made by TNEPRP, TNSRLM and NRLP.
The Project will be operational in 120 blocks covering 3,994 village panchayats spread across 31 districts of Tamil Nadu.
The proposed Project Development Objectives (PDO) are to promote rural enterprises, access to finance, and create employment opportunities in selected blocks of Tamil Nadu.

A 12 -day Mid-term review (MTR) was held from 15 February at TNRTP office in Chennai. It assessed the progress of TNRTP and measured the success of activities implemented so far.
The discussion was about the possibility of collaboration between TNRTP and TNAU. It also included capacity building of project staffs, enterprise CPs, SPARKs of Community Farm School, tech assistance and support in agri business development.
A meeting on Matching Grant Program Instrument with Financial Institutions was conducted by the TNRTP team. In addition to the Convenor State Level Bankers Committee, participants hailed from World Bank, public and private sector banks, small finance banks, and also the Institute for Financial Management and Research.
A one-day participatory Write Shop for Community Farm Schools was held on 12 January. The focus was on developing an evaluation criteria to access domain-specific knowledge, understand the need to train existing community experts and also explore assessment and certification possibilities.
In #Tiruvannamalai District, Edible Oil (groundnut) has been selected under the One District One Product scheme (#ODOP). Seven beneficiaries were given Rs.60 lakh totally. All project-districts have been encouraged to facilitate beneficiaries.
